Trails Tour
January 11--17, 2009 and February 15-21, 2009
Enjoy a winter vacation in sunny Florida and ride
five paved 10' wide trails in Central Florida where no motorized
traffic is allowed. The trails include the Withlacoochee, West Orange,
Wekiva-Seminole, Suncoast and Pinellas Trails. These trail range
from rural to urban and each trail is different and has it's own “character”.
This is a full service tour as you will stay in the Central Motel
in Inverness, Hampton Inn in Mt Dora and the beautiful Best Western
Yacht Club Inn in Duniden.
All rides are fully supported. We will begin on Sunday
of that week in Duniden, leave your car and be transported to Inverness
and then transported all week to the towns and trails we will ride
and return to your car later when we stay at the Yacht Club Inn.
(Note: If you bring a large tandem, we may not be able to transport
it and you may follow the support vehicle all week).
See many sights during your tour including Istachatta General Store,
the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, a possible dinner at Disney's
Treasure Island and much more of beautiful “The Real Florida” that
tourist do not see usually. Depart Saturday of the week of the tour.
Bicycle rentals available Monday morning in Inverness
for the week. Recommend you bring your own road bicycle. Ride up
to 200 miles plus for the week. You will have options of less if
you choose as you may get in the support van anytime you wish. Daily
possible miles range from 35 to 65 miles per day.
Shuttle service to and from Tampa Airport available
for $35.00 per person.
This tour includes six nights lodging (add $280 for
single room option), six breakfast and six dinners at locally owned
very good food restaurants as tested by the tour director over the
past five years (you will not go hungry!). Daily lunch on your own.
We transport you all week, provide trail maps, support you with water,
Gatorade, snacks and limited mechanical support. Depending on the
number of riders, a ride leader.
Note: Can guarantee booking and room if booked at
least 20 days prior to tour start date with one half tour cost deposit.
